March 2 is the date when adults involved in education can be as nutty as they like, all for the sake of reading. Kailua Elementary School is one of many Windward schools where Dr. Seuss fans from age 4 to 84 don the funny red-and-white hats favored by Theodor Seuss Geisel’s celebrity cat character. Guest readers, fortified with green pupu, spent time reading Geisel’s rhythmic verse to classes in all grades. In the related Positive Action assembly, all students sang the ‘Diffendoofer’ song, while a pair of diminutive Cats in Hats passed out plastic eggs with prizes to a lucky few. But everyone was lucky, of that we’re very sure; since Dr. Seuss parties always make a stir: The words are fun, and now I’m done.
