I Love Kailua Town Party

Hundreds of isle residents enjoyed the old-fashioned community fair atmosphere that Kailua offers every spring at its town party. And their support of the April 30 event, which stretched even farther down Kailua Road, made over $88,000 for the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle. The club will soon turn it around to finish beautifying Kailua’s entry median with irrigated native plants. The malassada line was long (but patient), the music and food were great, and the peoplewatching was uniquely Kailua. Pet lovers were everywhere: Besides seeing dogs of all sizes, event organizer Amy Hammond liked the man who dressed his cat in an aloha shirt and draped it around his neck. “You can see anything at the I Love Kailua party,” she says.
