Kailua has been partying for 15 years now, and it just gets better and better. The annual ‘I Love Kailua’ block party is a fixture on Kailua Road each spring, and so are the abundance of local artisans and foods. As thousands of residents and visitors explored all the pleasant diversions during the fivehour party April 29, vendors did a brisk business, and musicians nourished the lively mood. The Marine Corps band took it a step further, literally, by leading a conga line through the crowd. Kailua also is a dog-loving town, and the canine set were well-represented. Proceeds from the button sales and booth fees will go into the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle’s fund to replace insect-infested trees along Mokapu Boulevard.
