Unlike Kermit the Frog, the Kailua Seniors Club finds it very easy to be green, and St. Patrick’s Day is surely a fine excuse for the fun-loving leprechauns, er, members to go all out. The club celebrated “St. Paddy” special day on March 13 at Kailua District Park with its own unique flair. There were corned beef sandwiches to be consumed, along with greens, punch and four-leaf clover cake, all organized by Margaret Peters. There was a sing-a-long, don’t you know, with Ron Miyashiro on the piano. And the members’ favorite activity of all time — the costume contest. Sally Meditz won for the women folk and Bill Garber won for the men. Both claimed their own pot of gold: a $10 cash prize. Next up: Easter bonnet parade April 3 at Tree Tops Restaurant.
