Kailua’s monthly Art Walks have become a pleasant and educational tradition since the first strides were taken in July 2005. Every second Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. folks come to check out the downtown shops and art venues and get a little exercise. On March 11, Liz Rizzo and her dog Buddy joined them on the sidewalk to promote the Windward Dog Park plan. Buddy also gave away some of his old stuffed toys, and they made a little money for the cause. Balcony Gallery director Linda von Geldern says “We had the best opening sales we’ve ever had” (at the Antonio Greco reception that day). With new sponsors lining up, the May 13 walk will take on a “Fine Art, Fine Food” theme. The April walk, by the way, is changed to April 15 because of Easter. Newest shops: Nohea Gallery and Kalapawai Cafe
