Ruby Tuesday hosted a VIP charity grand opening for its Windward Mall restaurant May 1 by throwing a party for invited guests, donating all proceeds to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The restaurant opened to the public the following day. With a turnout of about 500 hungry and thirsty supporters, the new restaurant made more than $4,000 for the foundation. Everyone got into the spirit of the event, including guest Danny Kaleikini who stepped up to help with the blessing and then entertained the crowd with his melodious pipes. The charity is close to the Ruby Tuesday team’s heart, as co-owner Ted Davenport’s daughter and publicist Krysti Peacock’s daughter are both learning to live with the disease.
