Seagull Schools’ Pirates for Peace Friend-raiser

Seagull Schools needs a fund-raiser now and then to keep pace with its growth. The Kailua-based preschool’s “Pirates for Peace” benefit Sept. 17 dished up fun for all ages, plus a share in the receipts from host restaurant, Cha-Cha-Cha Salsaria by Koko Marina. Windward families and board members joined the raucous crowd of costumed characters, which included director Chuck Larson with his eye patch (sunglasses with one lens punched out). A huge treasure chest of toys, a really funny clown, and a grand water fight on the marina between warring pirates were highlights of the day. “It was a great family project that exceeded our expectations” says Larson. “We didn’t break even, so we’re calling it a ‘friend-raiser.’
