When the Windward Hawaiian Dog Fanciers Association has a show, they do it in a big way — by having two shows in a row with 400 dogs and plenty of humans and prizes. The group’s spring show, held April 14 and 15 and taking up all of the King Intermediate School field, was a fine opportunity for visitors to observe 80 AKC-registered breeds of person’s best friend. They were at their furry best, some in curlers, all being soothed by whirling fans during a break from the winner’s circle and where those equally well-groomed judges lurked. No dogs were seen purchasing canine treats or grooming supplies, but business was brisk among the two-legged customers.
