The Windward community’s first ‘Sunset at the Ranch’ at Kualoa was declared “fabulous” by chairman Wayne Panoke. The Oct. 7-8 weekend proved to be a big draw for people all through the day. Many came to shop and eat, others arrived later for the movies. Some families parked there all day long to enjoy a unique picnic at one of the Windward coast’s most beautiful venues. Panoke estimates film crowds of 4,000 Saturday and 3,000 Sunday. Being on the Morgan family ranch meant lots of ponies to ride and animals to pet, too. It’s already a go for next year, Panoke says, and they hope to expand it with a farmers market both days, midway rides and culturaL demonstrations. Plus the Polynesian plate lunch was ono.
