Orchid lovers lined up outside King gym in record numbers Good Friday morning, eager to browse, buy and/or seek out expert advice. Windward Orchid Society’s 28th annual show was a huge success Easter weekend (March 21-23), as visitors sought their favorite orchids and plants, including honohono, which blooms this time of year. Five orchid clubs had displays on the theme “Jackpot of Orchids.” Tabletop displays featured cactus and African violets. Nearly 30 orchid and plant sellers statewide enjoyed record-breaking sales, including Easter corsages. Lucky “slot machine” winners took home baskets of flowering orchid plants. Want more? The Windward group meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Ben Parker Elementary School cafeteria. Everyone is welcome. Call 383-9487.
