Kahuku’s Gina Ahue has been named the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s girls water polo Player of the Year, the league announced recently.

Ahue, a sophomore, helped lead the Lady Red Raiders to their fourth consecutive OIA title last month. Kahuku also advanced to the championship game of the state tournament, where they were defeated by Kamehameha.

Ahue was Kahuku’s lone First Team All-Star. Shannon Ching and Meme Moody were both named to the OIA’s Second Team from Kahuku, while Mika Bailey, Rebecca Fonoimoana, Morgan Wright, Rosie Jaffurs, Taniya Sifton and Minnie Whitford were all named Honorable Mention.

Red Raider coach Aukai Ferguson was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Tami Kalaiwaa, Jaymie Kanda, Emily Pak, Liana Rapoza and Kelsey Takahashi were named to the Honorable Mention team from Castle.

Selections are made by the conference coaches.
