Former University of Hawaii defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis signed a four-year contract with the Detroit Lions last week, the team confirmed.

Alama-Francis, who was a standout basketball and volleyball player at Kalaheo, completed the deal just in time for the July 25 deadline for rookies and veterans to report to training camp. Alama-Francis was one of three second-round picks for the Lions who were signed by the team, including Drew Stanton of Michigan State. Terms of the contracts were not released. Alama-Francis was first-team All-Western Athletic Conference last year with 39 tackles, including four sacks.
