The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men’s basketball team moved up five spots to No. 14 in the most recent National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA II rankings, despite not playing a game last week.

The Seasiders, who took a 6-2 mark into the weekend, increased their point total in the poll from 59 to 82 as they benefited from a number of losses by ranked teams to make the climb. BYUH continues to be the only Pacific West Conference team to get any votes in the poll.

BYUH lost to 16th-ranked Seattle University last Tuesday and was to play Harding (AZ) over the weekend. The Seasiders return to action Wednesday at Cannon Activities Center in Laie when they take on Arkansas-Monticello at 7:30 p.m. Lucas Alves leads the team with 14.8 points per game, Wu Tai-Hao has 11.8 ppg., 6.1 rebounds per outing and Corey Nielson has earned 10.8 ppg.
