Brigham Young University Hawaii junior outside hitter Michelle (Tuli) Peters has been selected the Daktronics Pacific Region Volleyball Player-of-the-Year.
The former Kahuku standout, who transferred to BYUH after two seasons at Division I Fresno State, also was named to the All-Region’s First Team. Peters received six first-place votes, three seconds and three thirds from the panel of 18 Pacific Region sports information directors to finish ahead of Seattle Pacific setter Jenna Von Moos 23-14 for the award.
Peters averaged 5.65 kills per game and 4.09 digs per game for the Seasiders, who were defeated by Cal State-LA last Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA II Pacific Regional to finish their season 20-1. Teammate and fellow Kahuku graduate LeeAnn Mapu, a sophomore setter, was named to the All-Region Second Team.
Players selected to the region first team will be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced Nov. 15.
