For the Kahuku girls water polo team, the “Drive for Five” is on.

The Red Raiders continue their quest for a fifth straight Oahu Interscholastic Association title this week when they take part in the league’s post-season tournament. Pairings for the tournament, which runs Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park, were to be released over the weekend.

The top four finishers in the OIA’s post-season advance to the Local Motion 2007 Girls State Water Polo Championships, which will be held May 10-12 at the Central Oahu park.

The Red Raiders, who took an 11-0 record into last Saturday’s regular-season finale with Kapolei, and who haven’t lost a league game in five years, were the state tournament runner-up to Kamehameha last May.

Kahuku outscored its first 10 opponents 160-27. The team is led by a veteran cast of Noe Wicker, Rosie Jaffurs, Gina Ahue, Ella Aiwohi, Rebecca Fonoimoana, Shannon Ching, Taniya Sifton and Minnie Whitford.

The post-season will also mark the last for Ferguson, who announced before the season that he will give up coaching to spend more time with his growing family.
