The Castle High football team will celebrate its homecoming at 7 p.m. this Friday with a key Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East match-up against Farrington.

Knights coach Nelson Maeda is hoping his team can overcome the usual distractions that come with the festivities.

“Homecoming in and of itself presents a lot of problems in keeping the kids focused - that’s No. 1,” Maeda said.“No. 2, Farrington, is a great football team. Although they lost to Kahuku (Sept. 29), they were right in it (for nearly three quarters). They’re a seasoned team that brought back a lot of returnees from last year. Defensively, they play very physical. Offensively, they’re very explosive, having scored 61 points against Moanalua earlier in the year.”

In other action involving Windward schools, Kahuku will also celebrate homecoming Friday night against Moanalua, while Kalaheo meets McKinley in a game that will be played at Roosevelt High School. Both of those games begin at approximately 7 p.m. Kailua has the week off.
