It didn’t take long for Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Michelle “Tuli” Peters to have an impact on the Seasider women’s volleyball program.

The former Kahuku standout and Fresno State transfer was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for the league’s first week of competition.

Peters, who is from Laie, led the Seasiders to four victories in the Hawaiian Style Classic recently.

Peters averaged 6.42 kills per game for the week and 3.17 digs per contest en route to being named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. She also hit .329 in leading BYUH to sweep all four matches in straight games.

She knocked down 23 kills against Findlay on Aug. 25 and came back the following day to tally 24 against Western New Mexico.

Peters was a Hawaii High School Player of the Year in 2003 and played two years for Fresno State before returning home to play for BYUH.
