Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

David Nagaishi has been named general manager of Il Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar. A veteran in the industry, Nagaishi will oversee all food and beverage operations. Nagaishi previously served as operations manager at Ocean House, general manager at Don Ho’s Island Grill, as well as vice president, general manager at Nick’s Fishmarket.

Neil Mullanaphy, executive director of sales and marketing for The Hawaii Convention Center, has been named to the board of the New York Society of Association Executives. Mullanaphy was elected to a one-year term on the NYSAE board, which was founded 92 years ago to serve the profession of association and not-for-profit management.

Gary Thompson has been appointed by Central Pacific Bank as a vice president and senior private banking officer in its private banking group. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry. In his new position, he is responsible for managing, servicing and growing CPB’s portfolio of high-valued clients with deposits, loans, investments, insurance and wealth planning needs. Thompson was previously with Bank of Hawaii for 20 years.

Randall Chung has been appointed director of group sales for Farmers Insurance Hawaii. Chung will be responsible for providing strategic direction for affinity group accounts. Most recently he serves as district sales manager for Wells Fargo Financial Retail Services, and was the director of sales and service center operations at Citi Financial Retail Services.

Kevin T. Sakamoto has been promoted by Bank of Hawaii to executive vice president and manager of the Hawaii Branch Division. Sakamoto will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s state of Hawaii branch network and administrating the key division areas including sales and service. Sakamoto joined the bank in 1993 as a management trainee. He has held various management and leadership positions within the bank, most recently as the MetroWindward Oahu regional manager of 11 branches, from downtown to Pearl Harbor, and the entire Windward side to Laie. He has a B.A. in finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 2007, Sakamoto was recognized as one of Pacific Business News’ Forty Under 40 awardees.
