Dr. Anthony C. Ostrowski has been named president of the Oceanic Institute. Ostrowski previously served as vice president and director of the U.S. Marine Shrimp Farming Program, one of Oceanic Institute’s largest and most successful research programs. In this position, he will advance the affiliation between the institute and Hawaii Pacific University, which began in 2003.

Wendy Takeshita Wong has been promoted to executive director of Kahala Nui. Wong will be responsible for the overall operations of the senior living retirement community. She brings more than 33 years of administrative/healthcare knowledge and experience.

Brenda Falany has been promoted to director of Assisted Living & Memory Support for Kahala Nui. She joined Kahala Nui in 2005 and is now responsible for the daily operations of Hi’olani Care Center’s assisted living and memory support sections. Falany has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 12 years.

Randy De Vera has been promoted to assistant administrator of Hi’olani Care Center at Kahala Nui. In this position, De Vera assists in providing oversight of assisted living and comprehensive nursing, in addition to supervising the Hi’olani Volunteer Program. He joined the senior living retirement community in 2005 as a charge nurse.

Gina Kim Nakamura has been hired as Korea market manager for Central Pacific Bank. In this position, Nakamura will manage and develop individual and commercial deposit and loan accounts in the Korean market in Hawaii. Prior to joining CPB, she served as a vice president at Bank of Hawaii for 27 years.

Robert Yackley has been appointed sales manager for Primo Beer’s sales team. Yackley has more than 20 years of experience in the food/beverage and grocery industries, and previously served as a distributor sales manager with Miller Brewing Co. His responsibilities now include managing all sales activities with both retail and bar/restaurant accounts, as well as overseeing vendor relationships.

Saiko Nozaki has been promoted to producer and new media market manager for PacRim Marketing Group. She previously served as editor/manager of Hawaii Arukikata, PacRim Marketing Group’s commercial online Japanese Web portal site about Hawaii. In her new position, Nozaki will be responsible for further developing PacRim Marketing Group’s Japanese and Korean Web portal sites and Japanese language social media strategies, among other duties.

Chris Tatum has been appointed vice president in charge of Marriott International’s portfolio of hotels and resorts in North Asia, Hawaii and South Pacific. In his new role, Tatum will lead the strategic planning and operations at 31 properties, with brands including JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Courtyard by Marriott Hotels, among others.
