Kapolei High School’s women’s water polo standout Nicole Hagi has been named the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s Player of the Year, the league announced recently. All-conference selections are made by the league coaches.
Hagi played a prominent role in the Hurricanes’ finishing as the OIA’s runner-up, scoring a team-high 50 goals. Teammate Ashlie Salas-Selem was also named to the league’s First Team from Kapolei, while coach Dexter Lee was selected as Co-Coach of the Year along with Kahuku’s Aukai Ferguson. The Hurricanes made a third straight state tournament appearance this spring and finished 13-5 overall under Lee.
