Alive Ballet Center presents the second anniversary show of The Gift at 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday at Paliku Theatre, drawing on artistic director Maria Jose Beltran’s international experience and nurturing approach a method that brings joy to the Hawaii dance community.

The Gift tells the story of two children who meet an angel and learn the gift of giving through a variety of creative scenes.

Tickets cost $20 general admission and $15 for children 12 and under. To order, call the studio at 277-6619 or 277-2731.

Beltran’s approach emphasizes technique, creativity and helping ballet students of all ages learn to value their individual efforts, work and personal achievements.

Her experience as a professional dancer in her native Peru, as well as Germany, Chile and America, is at the root of her teaching philosophy. Beltran stated that a nurturing approach is vital because of the competitive nature of ballet.

Alive Ballet Center’s mission is to answer the deepest needs of young artists and to bring joy, discipline and integrity of dance to the Hawaii community.
