Wilson Homecare is preparing to open its first residential care home this month at 96 Kaneohe Bay Drive.

“The uniqueness of this project,” explained Shelly Wilson, founder and driving force behind Wilson Senior Living Kailua, “is to create a purposeful life where residents are encouraged to be actively engaged, to take care of each other and foster a new perspective on living life while providing additional personal care assistance and all of the daily meals, activities, exercise, transportation and companionship that one would need.”

The three-story, 11,000square-foot building has a capacity for 22 residents. It has a spa room, two family rooms, snack bars, a private parking garage and a 6,500-square-foot basement. There are 19 fully furnished private suites, each with a private bathroom. A flat-screen TV, automatic bed, closets, air conditioner, dresser, desk and extra storage space are just some of the extras provided in each suite.

Both singleand double-occupancy suites are available. The home has a list of interested clients, but reservations are still being accepted. Tours of the home are available now, for a limited time.

For more information, call Wilson Homecare at 596-4486 or visit wilsonhomecare.net.

Snacks, activities, laundry, housekeeping, utilities, rent, medication management, nursing visits, daily meals and 24-hour staff help are included in the monthly residential fees, which start at $9,495 (single occupancy) or $13,990 (double). Cost for expanded care daily help with feeding, medicine, bathing and dressing costs $10,495 (single) or $15,990 (double), to start.

The agency, which provides nursing and transportation services and more, was established by Wilson, an award-winning businesswoman, in 1996, and by 2007 she had begun working on her vision of opening Wilson Senior Living Kailua. Now, four years later, her vision is coming to life.

“Wilson Senior Living Kailua was developed to provide our Wilson Homecare clients and the community additional options for care,” she explained, noting that “the Windward side of the island seems to be more in need of longterm care resources.”
