2011 Summer Swimsuit Issue
It’s that time of year again for MidWeek‘s annual Swimsuit Issue featuring some of the season’s hottest styles in swimwear for men and women.

It’s the 12th MidWeek swimsuit issue for glamour photographer Russell Tanoue, and from day one, he’s always encouraged people to “be real.”
It’s a message completely opposite to the superficialness people usually think of when it comes to the beauty and fashion industry.
A self-taught photographer, Tanoue has a gift of capturing a person’s beauty inside and out. And it’s this gift that has made him one of Hawaii’s most sought-after photographers for the past two decades.
However, this year he’s added another message to his fans: Reinvent yourself.
“Each year I try to reinvent something about myself, my life, etc.,” he explains. “This keeps you pressing forward with less time for negativity. Be new.”
In Tanoue’s case, he’s changed his diet by eating more organic foods, and has been training with Hawaii’s Fittest for the past two and a half months. He also is enhancing his smile with help from The Dental Corner, is “fine tuning” his skin with Dr. David Yew, and is in his sixth year of being tobacco free.
In addition to his job behind the lens, Tanoue spends much of his time planning events such as Beautiful at Pearl on the last Saturday of each month, and his upcoming 14th annual birthday celebration slated for July 9 (place to be determined). At his parties, he’s hosted many familiar faces, including Reggie Miller, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Wayne Brady, Kelly Hu, Johnny Depp and others.
He also founded Project Shine, which offers free makeovers and photo sessions to individuals who are battling cancer and other diseases, victims of domestic violence, at-risk teens and teenagers rehabilitated from drug abuse.
