So although they don’t take credit cards at Buzz’s Original Steakhouse, they do used biodegradable utensils and take-out containers. And guests at Buzz’s 45th anniversary bash Nov. 11 got reusable shopping bags as a message about a better lifestyle choice. In fact, for hundreds of guests who braved the rain that day and for many more (including former president Bill Clinton), Buzz’s is a lifestyle choice in and of itself. Founded in 1962 by Bobbie Lou Schneider Yeackel and her then-husband Buzz, the “shack by the sea” remains a favored landmark across the bridge from Kailua Beach Park. Still run by the family, it serves up lunch and dinner daily.
