The Keiki Palaka Band marked its 10-year anniversary of strumming its stuff June 7 with its annual Kanikapila and Luau at Kailua Elementary School. Founded by Uncle Mel and Lynn Murata, this year’s luau moved from Enchanted Lake School, where it has been for several years, back to its original site. This worked out great for Mel, who is the food services manager at Kailua Elementary. “After all these years we’re coming back home where we started to celebrate our 10-year anniversary,” said Mel. Special guests at the luau were Eddie and Myrna Kamae.

Up next for the Keiki Palaka Band is its annual Christmas luau. For more information, call Mel at 256-2276 or 266-7884.
