A Can Of Gas Saves The Day

Our daughter Rachel and her friend Emily were on their way back from the beach when they ran out of gas on Kaneohe Bay Drive. Before we could reach her, a kind gentlemen by the name of Webster Aluli of Colorrama Painting stopped by to help. He said he noticed them sputtering earlier and instantly knew they were running out of gas. He told them, I’ll go get gas for you.”
Right after we got there, Webster pulled up. We sincerely want to thank him for taking the time to help. Rachel and Emily were very nervous and very grateful.

“When I saw them, I figured they ran out of gas,” says WebsterAluli, a painting and drywall contractor. “I went home
and got my gas can and filled it up for them. I’ve got three girls myself, so it’s something I hope someone would do for them if they were ever in the same situation.”
Dear Pamela,
I am writing to thank Annette Rhoan, funeral director of Hosoi Mortuary.
My younger brother passed away unexpectedly. As our family grieved, we then started to make the funeral arrangements.
Upon our initial contact with Annette, she said the earliest she could see us would be in a couple of days. After explaining our urgency, she asked a few questions, made a few calls, and called us back within the hour. She made it happen in 3 days.
Thank you, Annette, for your professional, courteous, and efficient ways during this very stressful time. Your kindness is truly appreciated.

Hosoi funeral director Ellen Tanioka says that Annette Rhoan has a way with families. “She’s relatively new to making these arrangements, but always has the needs of family foremost,” she says. “It’s not uncommon for relatives to want to take care of business in a timely fashion, so we try to work around their schedules. Some of the families come from out of town, so we go the extra mile for them.”
In response to a previous APPLAUSE: Hi Pamela, I was forwarded the article on my mom, Marti Frensley, praising her dedication and hard work for the Assistance League of Hawaii.
In her usual style, she didn’t take credit for the success of the Assistance League, but I can honestly tell you how hard she works. She makes regular pickups for the thrift store, volunteers at the Honolulu Zoo every Thursday since I can remember, and has the most giving, positive attitude I’ve seen.
The Assistance League of Hawaii is extremely lucky to have her as a longtime volunteer. She truly gives her heart and soul to the organization.
