Dear Pamela,
While shopping at City Mill Kaimuki I tripped over a flat cart and hurt my knees, legs and arm. Ricky helped by calling another worker to move the cart aside and get me a chair to sit on. He asked someone to get me some tissue and bottled water. Ricky was so caring and thoughtful. I would like to thank him for his kindness and give him some APPLAUSE.

He suggested a hot and cold compress on the bruises, and the swelling went down the next day. Thank you, Ricky!

Dear Alice,
City Mill Kaimuki supervisor Ricky Kawamoto says it was the least he could do. “I heard a commotion, turned the corner and saw that she had been hurt. We wanted to make sure she was comfortable. That’s about it. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

Dear Pamela,
My mother spent two weeks visiting us from California.

A diabetic condition necessitated removing part of her foot several weeks ago, so she has been getting around in a wheelchair.

Before going to lunch we stopped by a shopping mall to pick up some souvenirs. We had to park across the street, then cross four lanes of traffic. There was no light, so we waited and waited. You can imagine how frustrating it is for a disabled person who requires a little extra time getting from one place to another. Even when the cars stopped we were afraid the cars in the opposite lane would not slow down.

After taking twice the time we thought we needed, I took her to lunch at Aloha Tower Marketplace. What a difference! As soon as we were out of the parking lot, an attendant walked into the crosswalk to stop traffic so we could pass safely. We were greeted on the other side by a very friendly lady under the little sidewalk hut. I’d like to thank the management of Aloha Tower Marketplace for their thoughtfulness. A frustrating morning ended with a relaxed, scenic lunch!

Dear Liana,
“Our concierge, security and parking staff are always proactive in extending their kokua to all guests, whether they need physical assistance or simply need information, “ says Melissa Chang, Aloha Tower Marketplace marketing manager. “I’m glad we were able to share the aloha spirit with the Vasquez family and I hope they come back to visit us!”
