I was standing in line at Times Market when I realized I didn’t have my wallet. I started to put things back on the shelf when a man asked me what I was doing. I told him I forgot my wallet so I wouldn’t be able to pay for my groceries. He said, come on, get in line and I will pay for you. It was about $25. He was so nice. I took down his name and number, and when I got home I called to ask where I could send a check for my groceries. He said, “No need to return the money, I was happy to help.” He suggested I donate the money to my favorite charity. I’d like to thank him very much. Clyde Sumida was my angel that day.

Dear Tina,
Clyde Sumida is a volunteer attorney who works in mediation and arbitration. He says he didn’t give it a second thought. “I am a Christian,” he says. “I saw her and knew she needed help. As we talked she said she belonged to a church. I thought her church could put that money to good use.”
Dear Pamela,
There are some Good Samaritans running the Chun Wah Kam Noodle Factory on Kalihi Street. I had a flat tire when I hit a curb. These Samaritans were outside loading their van.
Bless their hearts, they came to change the tire. I did not know how to thank them. I didn’t have any cash with me. I tried to give a check to Ryan, who was the last one to finish the work, but he refused it. I tried to give him cans of corned beef, he still refused. I hope some day I can repay their kindness. I also want to thank the sweet lady who patiently waited in the van. Because of their kindness, I later bought lunch plates from their factory. The food was very tasty, many varieties and reasonable. Thanks to all these angels.

Dear Pamela,
I am visiting Kailua from Denver, and I would like to thank those involved in the recovery of my fanny pack with my wallet inside. Yesterday, I accidentally left my fanny pack by a chair at the library. I didn’t even miss it until later in the evening, when I received a phone call from a friend who lives here in Kailua. It seems that a man (name unknown, unfortunately) found my fanny pack and gave it to the security guard at the library. The guard gave it to Gail, who works at the library, and she found my friend’s local telephone number in my wallet and used it to contact me. When I arrived at the library, I found that nothing was missing: cash, credit cards or ID. I would like to thank Gail, the security guard and most especially the unknown man for their efforts to return my wallet to me.
