A Good, Friendly Staff At Straub ER

I had to take my granddaughter to Straub Honolulu emergency room because she was not feeling well. I just want to thank the staff, starting from the admitting clerks to the nurse who took her vital signs, for being so friendly and nice to her. Sorry, I did not get their names. Also thank you to Dr. Ching, the attending physician, for making her feel comfortable and not afraid of being in the ER for the first time.

The staff at Straub is happy that Julia is doing better. On duty that day were Jocelyn Aguilos, Tiara, Arnie Maddox, Greg Zaryske, Anna Ventura, Natalie Davenport and Dave Messer.
Dear Pamela,
On a recent flight my husband, Ralph, was having trouble breathing. The flight attendants had to ask if there were any medical personnel onboard. A retired nurse, Elaine Kamamoto, came forward to help Ralph. Also Sandy Chang, another nurse, came to help. Elaine, who had worked at Queen’s, stayed with Ralph throughout the flight until we landed and were able to get him securely in a taxi home. She is truly a nurse with compassion and dedication. My heartfelt thank you to these women and the crew for their help and concern.

“He went into respiratory distress shortly after we left the ground,” says Elaine Kamamoto, who worked at The Queen’s Medical Center as the night nursing supervisor for 40 years. “There was no doctor on board, so we had to figure out how to help him. We fashioned a face mask and had him on oxygen until we landed. I was coming home from the Waialua/Haleiwa High School reunion in Las Vegas. I was so happy when we got him down safely!”

My doggie clawed through a window screen and escaped. She was gone for 24 hours. Then I heard a woman caller on KSSK saying, “There’s a dog running up Fort Weaver toward H-I on the street and she is going to get hit.”
Apparently my dog Tiffany crossed busy Fort Weaver Road and ended up at the hospital. There, a kind and wonderful girl, Tiana Scott, was able to get her, calm her down and hold on to her. Tiana took her home and bathed her, since she was covered with oil and grime and gum. Then Tiana went to her computer and saw our plea on Craigslist.
God answered our many prayers. It is a miracle how Tiffany survived the adventure. We want to thank Tiana Scott, a beautiful young woman. She even came back the next day with gifts for the dog. I will never forget her.

Dear Francese,
“I was taking my grandpa’s brother to the doctor when we saw the dog wandering around,” says Tiana Scott, an assistant at K&K Distributors. “We tried to round her up but she was scared and tried to bite us. Finally, we got her and took her home. She had a lot of pokies in her fur. In 2004 we lost our dog and never found it, so I knew what this dog’s owner was going through. We were so happy to find Francese. We recently got new pets, two Chihuahuas, to look after!”
