A Lifesaving Angel On The Highway

Dear Pamela,
My family would like to thank a special individual who stepped into our lives very briefly. This gentleman saved the life of our 2 1/2-year-old son. As our weekend at Chun’s Reef was coming to an end, and as my husband gathered all our belongings on the beach, I went up to the grass area to change our four little toddlers into their clothes. With everything going on, I never noticed that one had wondered off. In my panic, I ran to Kam Highway and noticed cars stopped in both directions. My son was in the middle of the highway with this man, whom I will only regard as our guardian angel. Every emotion was running through my mind, and all I could do was grab my son and this man and hug them with so much love. Because of him our family is still whole. I never even got his name, and I feel that I need to talk to him one more time to thank him for what he has done.
So, Pamela, can you please run my letter with the hope of him reading this? I want to say God bless him and his family, you are a true hero.

Hi
Pamela, I have once been recognized in APPLAUSE, and now it is my turn to recognize an anonymous angel who was watching over me. I was super-tired at the Moiliili Longs and I dropped my cell phone in the parking lot. My angel turned it in to the manager at Longs. I was in such a panic because I don’t have a home phone and that is my only phone. So, I would just like to pass on the gratitude that I have for that person who saved me a BIG headache.

Dear Pamela
The aloha spirit is alive and well in the islands. I was in a car accident with my two young children, 8 and 3 years old. I blacked out at the wheel on the H-1 heading west near Waikele, crossed all four lanes of the highway and hit the median. Seconds later, a couple came to our aid. The woman, a nursing student, assisted me; her husband looked after my children, carrying my 3-year-old and calming my 8-year-old. My heart rate had dropped to 70 and I was unable to move, but I was very aware of their assistance. With them there I knew my children were safe on that very busy highway.
They called 911 and were also able to get in touch with my husband. They took care of us until the ambulance and my husband arrived. I wasn’t able to get their contact info or their names; I couldn’t even croak out a word of thanks. I hope they read this so they know how very much our family appreciated their help. They truly are anonymous angels, and I can only hope to pass this spirit of aloha forward as they have done.

Dear Julie, Roxanne, Doug and Lisa,
The ancient Chinese text known as the I Ching says, “To know what anyone is like, we have only to observe on whom he bestows his care.”
In choosing to bestow their care on strangers, your Good Samaritans are indeed angels on earth, living with aloha and inspiring our gratitude.
