A Lift Of Aloha For Snow Birds

We are visitors from Calgary, Canada, and have been coming here each winter since 1973. We would like to extend our many thanks and a bouquet to a very kind and generous couple. Their extension of aloha is what Hawaii is all about and keeps us coming back. Our mode of transportation when we’re here is TheBus.
After doing our bulk shopping in Iwilei, a shower started, so we delayed our walk to the bus stop. A lady sitting next to us asked if we were visitors, as she noticed us packing our supplies. After some conversation she and her husband insisted on driving us to Waikiki. We assured her we take TheBus all the time, but they persisted. They were so kind and thoughtful. They said they were of Japanese origin and had been living in Hawaii for 30 years. Their last name was Otaka.
Our extreme gratitude for their generosity. People like this couple make Hawaii such a beautiful place.

My heartfelt thanks to Ivan for finding my wallet in a shopping cart at Tamura’s in Wahiawa. He took the time to bring it to my home. I joked to him that the wallet cost more than what was inside. It was my first Louis Vuitton wallet, with sentimental value. Much aloha and mahalo to Ivan. You really made my day.

A team of angels found and returned my cell phone to me last Friday at Windward Mall. Please express my heartfelt thanks to whomever picked it up and turned it in, and also to the wonderful security staff who notified me by calling my husband from my phone.
Through your column, I’ve known about the anonymous angels among us and I am so grateful that these angels were watching over me that day. Thank you all again, and I look forward to opportunities to “pay it forward”!
