A Moving Story Of Boris The Cat

I just moved to the island, and I had movers dropping off some items at my home on Wednesday. Without us noticing, my cat Boris jumped into the empty boxes that they loaded back into their truck. When I was unable to find my cat after the movers left, I contacted the moving company, Covan Worldwide. They searched the truck but they were unable to find Boris. They advised me that the truck had made a delivery to Bellows Air Force Station after leaving my house, so I went there to look for Boris, but could not find him.
The next day I received a phone call from the security desk at Bellows. They had found my cat, and since he had lost his collar and tag, they had gone to the extra trouble of contacting the moving company to get my name and number. Boris is now home and happy. I really appreciated the help from both Covan and the Bellows staff in recovering Boris. I’m sorry, but I did not get the names of the individuals who helped me.

Ethan Irvin of the Bellows security desk says it was just luck that after stopping by your home, the moving van came immediately to Bellows. “The movers were helping another family here and when they opened the boxes, there was the cat. We were happy to make the call. Taking care of people is what we do.”

A few weeks ago a golfer at Olomana Golf Links suffered a heart attack. Leo Ho, our club/tournament coordinator and a longtime employee of Olomana, went out onto the golf course to make an incident report. When she arrived on the scene, the playing partners were in a panic, and she and another golfer took action and performed CPR until the fire department arrived on the scene. We want to thank and commend her for handling this emergency situation. Due to her quick thinking and courageous act, she helped save a life, and Olomana Golf Links management and staff are so proud of her. She’s our heroine!

Leo Ho says she acted without thinking. “I came out on the course and the gentleman was lying on the ground. His friend was screaming, ‘Doesn’t anyone know CPR? Don’t let him die!‘Another golfer did the 15 compressions while I gave the breaths. But really, it was the paramedics who saved him. They came running up with all their equipment because the firetrucks could-n’t come on the fairway. They had a defibrillator and went right to work. He revived, and later called me from the hospital. His family wanted to have a dinner for me, but I declined. I told him when he was all recuperated he could have a free round of golf at Olomana. The wonderful result of this is that the Olomana staff will all have upgraded CPR training
next week!”
