A Picture-perfect Act Of Aloha

Hi Pamela,
I want to applaud a young couple who were so kind to my coworkers and me at the Charity Walk sponsored by the Hawaii Hotel and Visitor Industry Association.
I had brought my digital camera to take “before” and “after” photos of the people participating from our company.
Just before the walk began, a very nice young man agreed to take our photo. It was then I realized my camera batteries were dead and I didn’t have any spare batteries with me. This young man asked what kind of batteries my camera used, walked over to his family, returned with two AA batteries, inserted them into my camera and took our picture. I was so thrilled that he did that, and in turn I took their family photo with his camera.
However, in my excitement I didn’t get their names and also failed to have him take back his batteries. At the end of the walk while we were eating lunch, I kept an eye out for them but didn’t see them again.
All I remember is they were a young couple with a toddler son - mahalo for their kindness and generosity! We now have our shots for our company newsletter.

Dear Pamela,
We want to thank an individual who was willing to get involved with neighbors. Our house was burglarized one morning. This individual was driving on one of the side streets of Kamehameha School and noticed something out of the ordinary and called 911. Thanks to that person’s quick thinking the police were able to respond and catch the burglars in the act.
To this individual: We are grateful that you acted quickly and wanted to get involved in helping your fellow neighbors. Thank you again.

Dear Pamela:
When we were visiting beautiful Lanikai Beach recently, our son was stung by a jellyfish and you could tell by his cries it hurt badly. We didn’t know what to do, but out of nowhere came “Jill” from a beach house with her vinegar rinse and gentle, understanding words. After administering the soothing lotion to our son’s arm and leg, “Jill” (we never got her last name) went up to her house and came down with pineapple slices and strawberries for all of us. In no time at all our son had forgotten his run-in with the jellyfish and was smiling and laughing as “Jill” showed him games and told a wonderful story about a turtle who lived just
off shore.
We have often heard of the aloha spirit of the Islands and we have returned home remembering this kind and gracious experience as one of the fondest of our trip. Thank you.
