I would like to send a big mahalo to the people working at Ace Hardware in Kaneohe. I was in a minor accident with another car right in front of their store. The other driver was out of control and yelling at me. I was quite frightened. Then, one special employee told him to calm down. Other employees came out and asked if I was all right.
A big APPLAUSE to all of you. I didn’t want you to think I had forgotten.

“The guy was swearing at her,” says Kaneohe Hardware Hawaii Ace lumber sales agent Brian Butorac. “I’m from the South, and I told him where I’m from you don’t talk to ladies like that. It’s just how I was raised.”

Carmen Souza deserves a lot of thanks for spending many, many hours cleaning up graves at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe. She makes the whole area look much nicer.

“Carmen comes to pull out the hila hila that’s been growing over the graves,” says operations assistant Michael Oh. “Her husband is buried here, and she just decided to do it on her own. It’s been about a year now she’s been helping us and we really appreciate it.”

I want to sincerely thank Mr. David W. Treat, a Realtor associate with Coldwell Banker, who found my wallet in a Waipio parking lot. As I was rushing out I didn’t realize I left my wallet (which contains everything!) in the cart. It wasn’t until 30 minutes later when I tried to buy dinner that I realized I had misplaced it. Although it was already after hours at Costco, I was able to speak to someone and report my missing wallet. Almost simultaneously my father called me to tell me David had found my wallet. I am so thankful for people like David! Lucky I live Hawaii …

David Treat does not consider his act of kindness as anything extraordinary. “I found her wallet in the parking lot, and since there wasn’t a phone number I checked her driver’s license and found the address. It was no big thing to drop it off at her home,” he says. “I would hope someone would do that for me in a similar situation.”
