A Sparkling Example Of Honesty

Recently, my diamond solitaire fell off my ring. It was a horrifying moment when I realized that it was gone - lost. After some exhaustive searching, I began to call a few places I had been that day.
Geanelle from Henry Loui’s felt my pain, and after a fruitless search of the area, assured me that she’d let the rest of the staff know.
After four days of having my nose inches from the ground wherever I walked, Patti from Henry Loui’s called and said, “I think I just found your diamond!” Three feet away from where my friend and I had greeted each other before entering the restaurant, in a “sink hole” no more than three quarters of an inch in diameter, is where Patti found my diamond.
Miracles do happen, aided by the angels among us like Patti and Geanelle of Henry Loui’s. Kudos to them both for their sincere compassion for others and unshakeable honesty. And thank you for this venue to recognize these two wonderful women.

“I was amazed when I saw it,” says bartender Patti Mamizuka-Bailey. “I had just gone outside for a short break and there it was. Seriously, it was a trip. I asked hostess Geanelle (Dixon) if we still had Mrs. Aoki’s contact information. I know how upset she was to lose it. I have one and I would go crazy if I ever lost it.”

I had just finished my morning exercise at home when I started to feel ill. I called 911 and explained my medical problems to the operator. The last thing I remember was giving the operator my address. Minutes later I awoke with pounding on the front door by the Kaneohe Fire Department. I got up and started walking to the front door. I never made it. I had a heart attack. I was rushed to Castle Medical Center. My family and I would like to give heartfelt aloha to all involved in my call for help and the immediate response that saved my life: HFD, Kaneohe EMS and HPD. God bless all of you and your family.

The two EMS employees who helped you are Kaneohe unit supervisor Chester Sukekane and paramedic Jonathan Lee. “Both are highly skilled individuals who between them have over 40 years of providing quality emergency medical care to the residents of and visitors to Oahu,” says Norman Hahn, district chief of EMS. “Thank you for expressing your gratitude in recognizing these employees.”

After having breakfast with my sister-in-law at Zippy’s Kailua, I was ready to settle my bill. But my waitress said that the woman who sat behind me had already paid for my breakfast because I reminded her of her grandma. It was such a beautiful thing for her to do, and I only wish I could have seen her there to thank her personally. This touched my heart. What a lovely way to teach the child with her. Mahalo, lovely lady!

“It really is like a family here,” says Zippy’s Kailua manager Michael Bird. “In the day, we have regular customers who come in all the time. They all talk to each other, even though they’re sitting at different tables. I’ve never seen that anywhere else.”
