Dear Pamela,

I had the benefit of finding three terrific customer service-oriented businesses last week and would like to send all of them rounds of Applause. While rushing to meet a shipping deadline, I stopped at the Postage Plus store in Waimalu for some bubble wrap. The woman at the counter determined that bubble wrap might not be the best option for sending my perishable items. A gentleman working in the back room came out to help me repack my items with Styrofoam peanuts, securely seal my box and only charged me for the supplies I needed. I’m sorry I was in such a rush and didn’t get their names. The following day my daughter’s vehicle key broke off in the ignition and I began calling around for help. Nowadays keys contain a computer chip that make them more difficult to get duplicated. One car dealership said I would need to schedule an appointment to remove the broken key and change the entire ignition column which might be damaged. Seeking a second opinion, I called McKenna Ford’s Service Department, and Pat referred me to a mobile locksmith. Mario of Astro Lock & Key Service drove out to my location, removed the broken key, cut and programmed a new transponder key and was pleasantly polite, even though it was the end of his workday and a hot afternoon. Please send Postage Plus, McKenna Ford and Astro Lock & Key my thanks and appreciation for providing such great customer service.

Carrie Corcoran
Waipahu

Dear Carrie,

Postage Plus owner Owen Kamiya and sales assistant Karen McCollum are the people who helped you with your package. “It’s just a part of regular customer service,” says

Karen. “Here at Postage Plus, the customer comes first.”

At Astro Lock and Key Service, Mario’s wife Darlene is grateful for your praise. “We’re here to serve the public.”

Pat Murphy at McKenna Ford’s service department was off for the day, but communications manager Blanche Willingham says your letter will be shared with all the employees. “These boys deal with a lot of negativity all day, so it’s wonderful to receive positive comments. They work long hours and are constantly running around trying to finish their work. They give 100 percent all the time. For someone to take the time to pat our boys on the back is enough to make them go through the day smiling.”

Dear Pamela,

I must write about Eric at the Net Cafe at University Avenue and King Street. This guy is great, and all the patrons love him. He is the most helpful, friendly, cheerful person I have ever seen working anywhere. APPLAUSE to Eric!

John Arnold
Waikiki

Dear John,

Eric is doubly deserving of APPLAUSE since he must be a patron of the Net Cafe. The owners say Eric does not work for them.
