An Angel And A Bus Nightmare

Dear Pamela,
I’m a letter carrier at Wahiawa Post Office going on 24 years. I had decided to go to the Mililani Safeway at 5:30 on a Saturday morning (thinking I’d be in and out of there). Everything went OK except on Sunday morning, I CAN’T FIND MY WALLET! After an hour, I remembered Safeway. That morning I left my big purse and took only the wallet. In my haste, I was so careful to leave the cart in a secure place but left my wallet in it! I called Safeway and yes, an angel named Ben Dela Cruz from Waialua turned it in.
He left his name in my wallet, and I called him up to thank him and get an address so I could send him a reward, a token of my appreciation. He was so sweet and so gracious and refused to give me his address. Ben Dela Cruz, thank you so much! You spared me so much grief, and I really appreciate your goodness, honestly. God bless and, again, mahalo,

Dear Pamela,
On Bus No. 804, a female passenger with a very small child, several large bags and a collapsed baby carriage got on and dropped all her things on the floor right at the driver’s seat. She squatted down and began to go through all her things, looking for her bus fare. Luckily no one else was waiting to get on because the entrance was completely blocked.
In what has to be construed as a totally unnecessary amount of time for anyone to find their fare, the bus driver displayed the most courteous, professional manner with a very sincere, warm smile.
Finally the woman paid her fare and began to gather her packages. The bus driver asked the passenger to stow her baby carriage under the seat. Instead, the passenger placed it on the floor next to the driver’s seat in such a way that was hazardous to anyone entering or exiting the bus.
Seeing the danger, the driver turned off the motor, got up and took the carriage to one of the handicapped seats and safely stored it out of the way. Nearly every passenger was vexed by the callous attitude of this passenger, but the driver displayed such a sense of understanding.
I, too am a former bus driver. I drove for the Cleveland Transit System many years ago, so I have a great appreciation for the conduct displayed by the driver. I sincerely hope TheBus will take time to make some sort of recognition for the excellent service performed by this driver!
