Dear Pamela,
I want to thank all the AARP Tax Aide volunteers who unselfishly offer their services every year at the state libraries. Their skills, knowledge and sacrifices are greatly appreciated. I have used their talents for the past four years, yet neglected to say a proper mahalo for all they do to enrich and bless our lives. They are our unsung heroes. We love you.
Ordinary people who reach out each day
Ordinary people who willingly display
Unusual talents, skills and expertise,
Whose one desire is just to please
And reach out, to one and all.
Their sacrifices are numerous, plentiful
Our Unsung Heroes are Ordinary People.
Like you and I, trying to be helpful
May God Bless You, every single day.
For each one of you, we will daily pray!

Dear Annie,
Bruce Bottorff of the AARP communications office says your letter and poem are much appreciated.
“AARP has been offering the tax service for past 20 years or more,” he says. “We have 180 volunteers throughout the
state who are devoted to offering their tax knowledge. They really are unsung heros. They get up every day, especially during the busy tax rush, and go to 46 sites in the state, including one on the island on Molokai. This letter is a great way of thanking our volunteers.”
Dear Pamela,
I have shopped at Safeway over 12 years. I’m known as the banana box lady because I always ask for boxes. The people there are truly a caring bunch. Tyrell in the meat department helped me pick some choice cuts for a party. We discovered we were born only a few hours apart.
Once I left my wallet on the counter. An employee found it and turned it in to the manager, who called me. What a nice group of people! Mahalo to Safeway Pali.

Dear Lisa,
“That’s just part of our daily job,” says store manager Les Shimizu. “Our regular customers are like family.”
