An Outpouring Of Generosity

I am six months in remission from breast cancer. I am so grateful for the loving care I’ve received and all the blessings the Lord has bestowed on me. As soon as I was able to get around again, I dedicated my life to doing more for other people. A couple weeks ago I called Island Paradise Candies, Great Things Gift Bags and Aloha Bottling Company with an idea to do something for the elderly. They opened their hearts and donated 200 gift bags (Great Things), two cases of 600 candies (Island Paradise) and 200 bottles (Aloha Bottling). I put the candies in the bottles, then wrapped them in the bags with tags acknowledging the above companies. They were then dropped off to senior citizens’ homes in Wahiawa and Waipahu. I have 40 left over, which I will hand out to homeless people on the Waianae coast.
Jane and Sandy Pineda, who helped me financially after my illness, helped me distribute these gifts. I give them much APPLAUSE, along with the wonderful people at Island Paradise, Great Things and Aloha Bottling.

Good Samaritans are out there. My tire went flat as I rounded the Kunia Exit No. 5A heading Ewa. As I started my trek to find a phone, three cars asked if I needed help and/or a ride. A special mahalo to Aunt Deb and all the kids in the white van for letting me use their cell phone to call AAA. I was so flustered I forgot to get names, so I hope they read this and recognize the situation. Also, thank you to Lex Brodie’s in Waipahu for fixing the valve, no charge, and getting me back on my way.

“When she walked up to the counter we could tell she was really stressed,” says Louis Ilac from Lex Brodie’s Tire Company. “We make it a point to be sensitive to people who are in a rush or have children with them. This was a simple task and she was very appreciative. That made it special.”
