Dear Pamela,
I recently had a stillborn child at Tripler Army Medical Center, and I just want to thank my nurses, Candy and Amy, who made sure that I was as comfortable as possible, and who also consoled and comforted me until my husband could be flown back to me from the Big Island, where he was training with the U.S. Marine Corps. I would also like to thank the doctors who were on duty and who were taking care of me, Dr. Justin Pilgrim and Dr. Tiki.
They did a great job of keeping me informed and updated with what was happening to me, and keeping my husband informed.
Last but not least, I would love to thank Sgt. Maj. Lewis and Lt. Col. Tavuchis for getting my husband back to me as soon as possible. My heartfelt thanks go out to all of you for kindness, care and sense of utmost urgency that took place that day.

Dear Stiffany,
Our heartfelt condolences for your loss.
“Most of the time we’re able to provide happy news to families, but on rare occasions something doesn’t go right,” says Dr. Tiki Bakhshi. “I’m glad we were able to give some comfort in her time of need.”
Aloha Pamela,
On behalf of my brother Terry (who has Down syndrome), I would like to send out a big mahalo to the special angel (Guy) who paid for Terry’s haircut at the A One Barber Shop in Kaneohe. The angel had his hair cut right before Terry, then when he paid Kim (the barber), he told her that he was paying for Terry’s haircut also.
I got to thank him before he left, and tried to pay him. But he would not take my money. He said to me, “I have a son, too.” I just couldn’t pass up this chance to tell him (I hope he’s reading this), from the bottom of my heart, how much I appreciate his kind and generous heart. And, I hope that one day his son will get back more than triple of what he so generously gave to Terry.
God bless this special angel and his family!

Dear Debbie.
A One Barber Shop owner Quang Ngo says there are so many customers at the shop he does not recall Guy. No doubt your angel has already started reaping the blessings you wished upon him and his son.
Correction: In the Aug. 12 column the dentist who treated Kazuko Hardy was mis-identified. The dentist was Richard H. Miyamoto, D.D.S.
