Feeling Inspired To Praise Others

Dear Pamela,
It is inspiring to read about good deeds. Once I was the one who got to tell a friend that he was mentioned in your column. It made his day! He was elderly (has since passed on), and if you could have seen the sunshine that crossed his face at being mentioned, you would realize the value of this column.
Now it’s my turn to offer thanks to the woman who lent me her cell phone on Keolu Drive. My dog and I were out for a walk, and all of a sudden my dog’s leg gave out and she had trouble walking further. Thanks to the help of this Good Samaritan, I was able to call my husband and he picked us up. Our dog is much better now.

Dear Pamela,
Our mom, who has Alzheimer’s, went missing. She somehow caught TheBus with no money and was carrying a small red pouch. After frantically searching the neighborhood, we got a call from the police that she was found in McCully. An angel found her and put her in a taxi. The taxi driver brought her all the way to Waipahu Street and called the police because she did not know her address. We would like to send a big MAHALO to all the angels that help my mom get home safely, the person that put her in the cab, the taxi driver and the police officers. Our hearts are filled with gratitude.

Aloha Pamela,
I would like to extend a HUGE applause to two women who found me lying on the floor in the Sears Department Store women’s restroom. I was feeling dizzy, fell and was not aware what happened. They notified my husband, who was waiting for me outside the restroom. Security was notified, an ambulance was called and I was taken to Queen’s hospital. My husband didn’t get a chance to say thank you to the two angels who were there to get help. Many blessings to both and thanks again.

Dear Shirley, Funais and Elizabeth,
Albert Einstein once said a fellow who does things that count, doesn’t usually stop to count them. Your anonymous angels extended their hands in kindness and moved on, knowing that good will is its own reward.
(If you know someone who deserves some Applause, send your letters to Pamela Young, MidWeek Applause, KITV, 801 S. King St., Honolulu, HI, 96813 or e-mail pyoung@kitv.com. Include your name, phone number and, if possible, the phone number of your “applaudee” so we can contact him or her.)
