Dear Pamela,

My dad had an extreme senior moment after a luncheon with his friends at Willows restaurant.

He forgot my mom was supposed to pick him up. Thank you very much to Willows manager Kim Otsuka, who was very helpful and made phone calls to ask who at the luncheon saw my dad walk away.

During our search for dad, we came upon several police cars responding to another incident in Palolo. Thank you also to Officer C. Collins for his patience when we diverted his attention to file a missing persons report on my dad.

Happily, we found dad waiting at Market City, one hour before sunset.

Dear Peggy,

“We were very worried,” says Willows manager Kim Otsuka. “It was a difficult situation because he left the restaurant hours before and so much of it was out of our hands. The entire staff is relieved that this story has a happy ending.”

Hi Pamela,

My husband filled gas in my car at Costco Waipio before going to work. Upon his arrival at work, he could not find his money and money clip. We thought that the money was long gone by now, but I thought we should call Costco, just in case. A very nice lady answered (I apologize, I didn’t clearly get her name) who called the gas lane clerk Ella Perez for me.

After verifying the amount and item “lost,” she said they had it and would place it in the office until we could go back to retrieve it. I was completely floored and elated.

It was money and it could have easily disappeared. Please send my gratitude and thanks to both employees at Costco Waipio. It is so wonderful to know there are people with integrity still out there.

Dear A&P,

“Our staff and our customers find wallets every day,” says Gayle Kawamura, assistant general manager of Costco Waipio.

“I find there is a great amount of honesty in this community. We go above and beyond to find the owners because we put ourselves in their shoes. In this economy, every penny counts, and no one wants the hassle of replacing cards and dealing with fraud.”

Dear Pamela,

Last week I lost my wallet in the parking lot at Home Depot. A nice couple, the Dumandans, found it and called me at home.

I went back to Home Depot and they waited for me to return. After numerous attempts, they still would not accept a reward from me!

It is nice to know there are still people who understand what “good heart and take care” means. (It’s Thai saying.)

Dear Paul,

Eva Dumandan says she and her husband Avelino know what it’s like to lose belongings. “I lost my purse once and I had to change my account numbers, cards, everything. Such a humbug. No one should have to go through that.”
