My husband Richard and I finished buying baked goods at Kapalama Shopping Center. When Richard turned on the ignition, the car wouldn’t start. He tried a couple of times and the car did not move. Anxious and worried, we were not sure what to do at that moment. A green Jeep pulled into the stall next to ours. The driver immediately came to our aid. He asked a few questions and looked under the hood. It turned out the car battery that was purchased a month ago was placed incorrectly and had shifted. He took out his tools and secured the battery for us and, when my husband turned on the ignition, the car started! We did not get the name of this incredibly nice and giving person and his patient wife. While we do not have his name, can you please thank him for his good deed in your Applause column? We appreciate your help in getting this message to this kind and unselfish person. Mahalo!

Dear Pamela,
I was cycling home on Kamehameha Highway fronting Sears Pearlridge heading ewa toward Pearl City. A vehicle suddenly decided to turn into the Exit Only driveway into the Sears parking lot. I collided with the car, destroying his passenger rear-view mirror, then fell onto the driveway. The driver immediately came out to check on me and noticed a large laceration on my left arm. He took his shirt off and put it around my arm to contain the bleeding. I was taken to Pali Momi Emergency Care for my injuries, by a lady who witnessed the accident. I was still in disbelief and pain that I didn’t get her name. She kept saying to relax and that she will get me to the hospital right away. When she dropped me off at Pali Momi, she told the emergency workers what had happened and left. I need to give her a big mahalo and, if I could, a huge hug for her help. Also, thanks to the doctors and nurses at Pali Momi hospital for their quick response to my injury. One last item: The driver of the vehicle came to Pali Momi to check on me and fill out the police report. He even took my bike home for me and apologized to my wife!

Dear Pamela,
I was having lunch at the mall with my daughter Kelsey. We sat on the outdoor deck admiring the view. When we got up to leave I had a lot of packages to hold, and in the process of picking everything up, my purse was upended and half of its contents went over the ledge! Kelsey and I rushed down the escalator to the parking lot and there a young man was holding my keys and wallet. His lady friend was chasing my lipstick, which was rolling under a car. In the confusion I did not get their names, but I want to thank them for their kindness and honesty!
