I took my son to see the Sesame Street show at Blaisdell Center. I’d gotten lost on the way there and was running late. I did not realize I would have to pay parking ahead of time, and I had no cash on me. The parking attendant let me go through because she did not want my son to miss the show. I told her I would come back to pay, but she was gone when I went out during the intermission. I paid the new girl on duty, but wished I could have thanked Maggie again. All I know is her name tag said “Maggie A.”
As a stay-at-home mom with a toddler, a military spouse and part-time student, life can get hectic at times. When you move away from home, you really miss the kind things your friends and neighbors do for you because they have known you their entire lives. Maggie treated me with the same kindness.

Dear Lesley,
This is not the first time Maggie Amina has extended a kind gesture in the six years she’s worked for Diamond Parking. “Sometimes people come in really rushed and don’t have enough, so I pay for them. They almost always pay me back,” she says.
“This lady was crying and she looked so sad. She had babies in the car, so of course I paid for her. I can’t believe someone wrote a letter about me. Makes me want to cry, too!”

While waiting for the bus at Lusitana and San Antonio, a knucklehead snuck up behind me and stole my backpack. I chased him, but he got into a car driven by another man and drove away. I am 60 years old and don’t like to think of predators among us.
The good news is that the next day everything (minus the money) was returned! I would like to thank Mr. Gary Lum, officer Robert Lau and detective Derrick Hahn. I know that some witnesses took time from their day to give information. I appreciate their help.

Gary Lum says no big deal. “Whoever stole her backpack dropped it off at the apartment building I own. Her driver’s license was still there, so it was easy to track her down.”
Dear Pamela,
I want to bring attention to the great staff at the Greek Marina in Koko Marina Shopping Center. I had just watched a movie with my friend Linda Low at the center on Saturday evening and decided to have dinner at the Greek Marina restaurant. We had a great dinner and, when we left, I had not noticed that I left my wallet on the table. The staff called me and left a message on my cell phone saying that they found the wallet and not to worry, they would be open the next morning. When I went back, they had my wallet and refused a reward. A fond aloha to Adam and Claudia and the rest of the staff.

Greek Marina owner Nasser Rizk says all his employees have big hearts. “It’s a part of customer service, and I’m glad that Adam Ikeda and Claudia Olivera were able to be there for Garry.”
