I took my Auntie Nancy to lunch at Young’s Kalbee in Aiea. We were having a great time eating and talking about family matters and life in general. A young lady and young girl sat at the next table. When I went up to pay for our meal, the owner asked if I knew my fellow diner, to which I replied I didn’t. She relayed that the lady enjoyed our conversation so much that she wanted to pay for our lunch and left $20 with a “God bless you” and a smile face drawn on a napkin.
Auntie Nancy and I were so touched by this “random act of kindness” that I needed to relay our heartfelt thanks to this wonderful angel. Her kindness and generosity blessed both our day, and I’m sure it’ll stay with me for a long, long time.
I pray one day we will meet and have lunch/dinner or whatevahs (on me this time)!

Dear Pamela,
My granddaughter, great-granddaughter and I were at the state ID office. While standing in line I had a conversation with the woman behind me. I was telling her that my granddaughter is ready to give birth at any time now and still didn’t have an infant car seat.
A few minutes later, she told me she would give me money to buy one. I told her no because although it was generous of her, I had just met her. She was very kind. Before she left, she went to my granddaughter and shoved $40 in her purse.
I only got her first name, Abby, and she’s from Waipahu. I’d like to say mahalo to Abby!

Dear Pamela,
I was sure someone was going to run into our stalled car on Salt Lake Boulevard right before Ala Napunani going toward Salt Lake Shopping Center. Because of oncoming traffic, we couldn’t get safely out of the car. Here we were stalled, unable to activate the emergency lights, cars barely missing us and blowing their horns. I made a frantic call to AAA.
Then, an alert driver parked his SUV on a side street, walked back to where we were stuck, told us he was going to stop traffic with the help of his nephew so we could roll our car backward down the hill to the curb. We were then able to get out of the car and wait for AAA. These two gentlemen, not wanting to be acknowledged, went on their way after seeing that we were OK. I was able to get two first names: Uncle Ivan and his nephew Bryant.
Thank you both for your quick action and preventing a possible bad outcome.
If you are reading this, AAA towed us, and the car is now being repaired. I truly appreciate your help. Mahalo.
