Giving A Gentle Push For Kindness

My brother has poor balance and is unable to walk, so he uses a power chair to get around. One Friday his power chair stopped working when he was at Zippy’s Ala Moana. He asked a gentleman eating lunch there to help push him to The Handi-Van pickup area near the post office.
This very helpful person used his own cell phone to call the wheelchair company for instructions to manually operate the chair. Then he pushed my brother the long distance to the pickup area. He was very cheerful and even asked if he could do anything else. He refused monetary thanks for his help.
Unfortunately, my brother did not obtain this man’s name or phone number. Using this column, we would like to say a BIG mahalo! This gentleman’s very kind help considerably lessened my brother’s anxiety in this stressful situation. My brother was on time for this scheduled Handi-Van pickup and was able to arrive home safely.
In return, we will respond in kind by helping someone else in distress.
