Giving Credit Where It’s Due

Today at Marukai Ward, as I checked out with my items, the cashier informed me that my credit card did not go through. Before I could pay by check or cash, a Ms. Wheeler used her charge card to pay for my purchase and insisted that she did not want my reimbursement. She did not give me any information on her own, but I noticed the last name on her card.
May I use this column to personally thank Ms. Wheeler for her kindness and compassion? I was in no way unable to pay for my purchase except that being caught by surprise with my charge card problem left others waiting in line.
Thank you, Ms. Wheeler. Hopefully, you will read this message and know that I appreciated your kind gesture.

Hi Pamela,
One day I forgot a bag with my wallet in it in the shopping cart outside Longs Pearlridge. I ran out to get it, but it was gone. Someone had found it and turned it in to the cashier. I would like to thank that person for his or her honesty and thoughtfulness. I dread to think what would have happened if some unscrupulous person had found it. I pray that you and your family are blessed with many wonderful events. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Pamela,
A great big mahalo to a family in a white SUV at Costco Iwilei for saving me a lot of headache this past weekend. I was putting my purchases away in the parking lot and placed my purse on the top of the car. I never thought I would be so absentminded to do such a stupid thing. Anyway as I was driving away I noticed a car honking away at me. A man was driving and his kids were waving their arms out the windows. Just as I stopped the car, my purse came tumbling over my windshield. By the time I retrieved my purse, the SUV was gone. Thank you and big APPLAUSE to this family.
