During this holiday season, my family and I are so thankful for three very kind and compassionate workers in Waipio.
A few weeks ago, my husband and two young daughters and I were shopping around noontime on a busy Friday.
We walked out of the store to the parking lot and were shocked to discover our van had been stolen.
While we waited for the police to arrive, a young man named Manu came out several times to be sure we were OK, taking our ice cream back to the store freezer and returning with bottles of water for our daughters.
In the meanwhile, Sohn and Lisa, two of the supervisors, offered to take us home all the way to Aiea!
Then on the way, Lisa stopped so I could pick up our two older sons from school.
What could have been a horrible day for our family turned out to be an experience, as Lisa reassured us on our drive home, where God works things out for good.
Bless Lisa, Sohn and Manu, and their families, for their true servant’s hearts!

Dear Jo Lynn,
Sohn Lee, Lisa Castrodes and Manu Mateo are happy you’re starting the new year on a high note.
“They had their two young daughters with them on a very hot day,” says Lisa. “Of course, it’s upsetting when your car gets stolen. Sohn and Manu were helping them with everything. I just offered a ride home.
We all care about people.”
Dear Pamela, My husband, son and I were going up the escalator at Ala Moana Pacific Center when I lost my footing and started falling backward.
This caused my husband, who was behind me, to lose his balance.
He then fell against my son, who was behind him.
A concerned person saw that we were in distress and immediately came to our aid. She helped us to get off the escalator safely.
Without her help, we might
have sustained injuries.
We neglected to ask her name, but I hope she reads this so she knows how grateful we are for her help.

Dear F.L.,
Ala Moana director of public relations Matt Derby says its security office responds immediately to any emergency situation at the mall or in the offices should an anonymous angel be elsewhere in a time of need.
“Our staff is trained in first aid and can assist with health issues, lost children, even locked cars,” he says.
“Anyone in distress can call for security at 942-2944.”
