Honesty And Integrity At Turtle Bay

Recently my wife couldn’t locate her billfold with family photos, various IDs, credit cards and more than $700 in cashed paychecks. Precious personal items aside, we are a lower-middle income, empty-nest couple with three jobs between us to pay the bills, and that was a tough hit.
We posted notices in our Mililani neighborhood and called the right people who may have found it, but soon we felt that bill-fold was a chapter in our life that was over.
About a week later we received a phone call from Tom, the head of security at Turtle Bay Resort. An employee, Ann Myers, had found my wife’s billfold at a North Shore bus stop and turned it in to the Turtle Bay security office. Tom ingeniously contacted a Mainland phone number in the billfold and was able to track my wife back to our phone number on Oahu.
My wife and I want to recognize Tom’s initiative and conscientiousness and, above all, Ms. Myers’ integrity. They are truly special people.

Tom Dougher, director of safety and security, has been here for 37 years. Ann Myers is a food server at the Palm Terrace Restaurant who’s been with us for a couple of years. We have a program at Turtle Bay Resort called Hugs. Because of their thoughtful gestures, Ann and Tom will each get a hug and $l00.”

Not long ago, our Auntie Maria and Uncle Juan were in Wahiawa General Hospital Long-term Care. For several years when our aunt was there, our uncle used to visit her daily until he couldn’t drive anymore. For all those days, our uncle was always looking forward to seeing the friendly faces of the staff who treated them as a family. Auntie Maria passed away in August; Uncle Juan followed in October. No words can describe how thankful we are to be blessed with such a wonderful team with a very caring attitude and a big heart that goes beyond the call of duty. Abig thank you to Dr. Leland Dao and Dr. Barron Wong, Suzie A., Jane C., Carol A., Annie, Trina, Tess, Lenie and to all the SNF family. To Elmer A., we really appreciate your kindness. God bless you all.

Dr. Barron Wong gives the APPLAUSE right back. “They are a very loving family. It always helps when the family is supportive of the patient and cooperative with the staff. As a physician, it can be difficult in these situations, but a loving family can make a difference. Also, the staff at Wahiawa General is dedicated to each patient, providing loving care at all times, working as a team. We also are one big family.”
