I have enjoyed a number of days quietly fly fishing on the reefs of Kahala and Aina Haina. A truly challenging sport, to say the least! The sun, surf and reef colors are always a spiritual experience. This pleasure was interrupted when I recognized that the zipper on my bathing suit pocket was open. Not only had I lost my driver’s license, but my bank card, too. A search of the surf and across the reef revealed no relief. I walked all of the shoreline with the same result.
The bank canceled the card and sent another that week. It was the next furlough day before I could replace the license, which they did in miraculous time, 10 minutes in and out. But I still had that nagging feeling: Where were my cards? Would someone find them and use them?
Finally, I got a call from my bank. A Mr. Ramsey returned my bank card and license. With a huge a sigh of relief, thank you!

Dear Pamela,
One evening our son was returning his boss’ truck to Kailua. Going into the H-3 Hirano tunnel, he hit the tunnel wall. After the accident, he said two guys stopped to see if he was OK. Shaken and scared, he didn’t get their names, but we would like to say thank you to these two special and caring angels.

I wanted to send a big mahalo out to a young man who helped me with my motorcycle that wouldn’t start as I was trying to walk it to a repair shop in Moiliili on Tsunami Saturday.
I was struggling with the 500-pound motorcycle (that nearly fell down several times!) on Old Waialae Road around the Humane Society area and was encountering difficulty going uphill, when my angel in a large, black truck swerved to the side and jumped off to help me push. He said he also rides bikes, so wanted to help anyone he saw pushing a bike.
I was a bit distracted with all the strenuous pushing so I didn’t get his name, but I hope he’ll see my note in your column and know that I greatly appreciated his help.
